Accelerating AI Agent Adoption in Pharma: TherapiAI Secures Key CDMO Partnerships to Drive Real-World AI Transformation

Taiwanese AI drug discovery startup TherapiAI, in collaboration with the Development Center for Biotechnology (DCB), recently hosted the “Empowering with AI Agents: Data Transformation and Pharmaceutical Innovation” industry forum. The event centered on the practical application and implementation of AI agents within the pharmaceutical CDMO sector. Attended by R&D and business decision-makers from over 20 leading Taiwanese CDMO firms, the forum underscored a significant shift in the industry: companies are no longer just monitoring AI trends—they are actively seeking ready-to-deploy, turnkey AI transformation solutions for their facilities.

Michael Han, Founder and CEO of TherapiAI, noted that TherapiAI is currently the only enterprise-grade AI agent platform on the market specifically engineered for the pharmaceutical CDMO sector. By integrating R&D process optimization, GMP compliance documentation, and the ability to leverage both internal and external databases, the platform is rapidly defining a new standard for intelligent pharmaceutical manufacturing. “TherapiAI is more than just deploying AI agents,” said Han. “It is about co-creating a collaborative innovation framework with CDMOs through AI agents, enabling them to build their own unique competitive advantages.

Currently, TherapiAI has secured partnerships with multiple domestic CDMOs while simultaneously expanding into the Japanese market. This establishes a “Taiwan-Japan Dual-Engine” strategy, positioning these two regions as the core hubs of its Asian expansion. Alicja, CTO of TherapiAI, further explained that TherapiAI is the only AI platform company in the country dedicated exclusively to the pharmaceutical CDMO sector. The company leads the industry by applying AI agent technology to high-complexity scenarios, such as cell line screening, process scale-up, and the generation of regulatory compliance documentation.

The AI agent platform developed by TherapiAI supports conversational interaction, enabling biotech professionals to leverage natural language to rapidly build models for cell line screening and cell process optimization. By integrating and accessing multiple biomedical databases, the platform significantly accelerates the Time-to-Delivery for pharmaceutical CDMOs. Furthermore, to address stringent data privacy requirements, TherapiAI offers on-premise or private cloud deployment, effectively mitigating the risk of data breaches associated with public clouds. This solution is already being implemented with several domestic CDMOs, successfully helping clients enhance process efficiency while substantially reducing costs.

During the forum, TherapiAI invited several industry leaders to showcase their cutting-edge AI solutions. Merck Life Science introduced its use of Raman spectroscopy for real-time process monitoring, significantly enhancing quality stability and production efficiency. Cyto Facto, a leading Japanese cell therapy firm, shared how they utilize RFID to link raw material management with product validation, driving end-to-end digitalization.
DrSignal BioTechnology demonstrated its smart manufacturing environment that integrates IoT, AI simulation, and Digital Twin technology, featuring AI-simulated scheduling and autonomous production. Additionally, Dr. Wang, from a world-renowned CDMO, shared innovations in molecular optimization. He explained how their language models perform comprehensive scans of antibody sequences to assess stability, immunogenicity, and expression potential. Combined with early immune response detection, this approach helps predict and mitigate immunological risks.

These real-world applications demonstrate that AI technology has moved beyond the “proof-of-concept” stage. It is now accelerating the transformation of core operations—including cell line screening, process analysis, quality management, and documentation automation—delivering tangible benefits and powerful momentum to the pharmaceutical industry.

As the Taiwan and Japan markets advance in tandem and real-world applications continue to scale, TherapiAI remains committed to deepening its partnerships within the pharmaceutical CDMO ecosystem. By championing the “turnkey AI implementation” model for manufacturing facilities, TherapiAI is injecting a critical wave of AI-driven momentum into the Asian pharmaceutical industry’s next phase of transformation.
