TherapiAI, a Taiwanese AI biotech startup, officially launched its global expansion at Japan’s largest pharmaceutical and regenerative medicine exhibitions—INTERPHEX Week Tokyo and Regenerative Medicine Expo Tokyo—from July 9 to 11. There, it debuted Asia’s first on-premise AI decision-making platform dedicated to pharmaceutical CDMOs. During the three-day event, TherapiAI attracted nearly 100 global biotech and pharmaceutical companies for partnership discussions. Notably, several major Japanese enterprises made targeted visits, paving the way for subsequent NDA signings and technical engagements.
Notably, a team from Japan’s leading cell therapy CDMO visited the booth for a face-to-face technical exchange with TherapiAI, engaging in in-depth dialogue regarding platform applications, data architecture, and deployment scenarios. Founder and CEO Michael Han stated that this interaction helped establish mutual understanding and trust, “laying the foundation for future collaboration.” He further noted, “The application of AI in the biopharmaceutical sector is rapidly gaining traction, and this exhibition marks the starting point of our strategic expansion into the Japanese market. Moving forward, we will simultaneously drive growth in both Taiwan and Japan, accelerating technical partnerships with global CDMOs to expand real-world application scenarios.”
Engaging Nearly 100 Companies to Deepen APAC Collaboration
Building on this momentum of international exchange, TherapiAI, in collaboration with the Development Center for Biotechnology (DCB), will host the “AI Agent Empowerment, Data Transformation, and Pharmaceutical Innovation” industry forum in Taipei on July 23. Focusing on practical applications and implementation strategies of AI within CDMO processes, the forum will invite representatives from renowned Japanese and international pharmaceutical companies to share their experiences. Discussions will center on leveraging AI agents to enhance R&D efficiency, process stability, and regulatory compliance, thereby elevating corporate competitiveness in the global supply chain.
Pharmaceutical companies have long grappled with challenges in R&D and manufacturing, specifically regarding high parameter complexity and variability. In cell culture processes, for instance, intricate parameters not only drive up costs but also prolong R&D timelines. As a technological pioneer addressing the digital transformation challenges of the pharmaceutical industry, TherapiAI showcased an AI platform specifically designed for pharmaceutical companies that can be deployed directly on-premise. The platform supports natural language interaction, utilizing AI agents to integrate cross-system data and execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This effectively resolves adoption hurdles such as data fragmentation and process complexity, comprehensively elevating process efficiency and regulatory compliance while ensuring sensitive business data remains secure.
In her technical presentation, TherapiAI CTO Meng-Chang Lee elaborated on the platform’s two core modules—the BioPharma AI Agent and the GMP Compliance AI Agent—demonstrating their application in critical workflows such as cell selection, yield prediction, and regulatory reporting. Notably, AI agent support in cell selection has successfully reduced operation times, significantly boosting efficiency while lowering failure rates.
To meet the rigorous data security and compliance standards of pharmaceutical companies, TherapiAI adopts a “decentralized, zero-retention” data access architecture. The AI agent accesses data in real-time strictly during task execution and automatically purges it upon completion. This not only effectively ensures corporate data security but also significantly reduces internal computing resource costs.
At the exhibition, TherapiAI’s booth attracted inquiries from nearly 100 industry players across Japan, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Austria, and India, including major Japanese pharmaceutical companies that specifically visited to explore the technology. Numerous industry experts noted that TherapiAI’s capabilities in data integration, real-time computing, and private cloud deployment effectively address critical pain points in pharmaceutical R&D and process management. Several potential clients have already expressed interest in collaboration, and in-depth technical alignment meetings are currently being scheduled.
